Description

This annual meeting brings together Deans, Directors and Lay Leaders who represent the 12 Land Grant Universities in this region. Our objective is to discuss common issues, challenges and opportunities that face us as we strive to engage the land grant mission of teaching, research and extension. Our goal is to find collaborative ways to strengthen the land grant mission in the 21st Century.

This year’s conference, hosted by South Dakota State University’s College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences, will be held in Rapid City, South Dakota. Nestled at the base of the majestic Black Hills, we can guarantee that there will not be a lack of things to see or do while you are here. From the beauty of the western rangelands to the historic sites of Mount Rushmore and the Badlands, you will quickly fall in love with Western South Dakota.

The Rapid City Convention and Visitors Bureau has information on dining, transportation, sites to see and activities to enjoy in the area.

Throughout the conference, we would like participants to share thoughts and photos on social media using #NCMLG.

Optional Tour

Join us as we visit three famous sites in the Hill City area of the Black Hills. We will start by visiting the famous Crazy Horse Memorial – a tribute to Native American culture in South Dakota. We will then explore the nuances of forest management and the economics behind the timber industry in the Black Hills. We end our tour by visiting a South Dakota “must” – the beautiful Prairie Berry Winery.
